Weinachts Bahn

We had a fun filled day and went on the Christmas Train. The train is a coal train from 1938 with all its original passenger cars including a dining car. Its a good thing it was a total three hour ride or Aurora would have refused to get off after just an hour. It went from Esslingen to Ludwigsburg stopped for thirty minutes and turned around and came back. The kids got to go into the engine and see how everything worked and St. Nicolaus came by and distributed candy, nuts and fruit.Aurora thought he was great! St. Nicolaus is the actual man who the American Santa Claus is based off of. St. Nicolaus comes the 7th of Dec. and puts candy, nuts, and fruit along with small toys inside a shoe of the child's left on the door step. The Christ Child is who brings the gifts on Christmas Eve.

Aurora is obsessed with Choo-Choo's. So this was her idea of heaven. It was so cold we all had two pairs of pants on.
